Read and Feed!

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

On Friday May 19th, we will be having a Read and Feed during our whole group time from 10:15-11:00. This is a group celebration for hard work! Each student can bring a drink and a snack. Students are encouraged to bring either juice, water, or gatorade. (NO pop!) As for the snack, please make sure it is NOT a full size bag of chips or candy. Snack size bags or Ziploc sandwich bags work well.

Thanks,
Mr. Hippen

FFA Week Drawing Contest

This is a message I got from Trent Steinhart, Vocational Agriculture Instructor at Washington High School. I will likely be doing this in class tomorrow!

Mr. Hippen

I wanted to send you a quick email to invite your classes to participate in a coloring or drawing contest in celebration of National FFA Week February 18-25th. In an effort to involve our younger students in this annual celebration, we are inviting 4th and 5th grade students to participate in an agriculture or FFA-themed drawing contest. This contest is completely optional and teachers can decide how or if they wish to present this opportunity to their students.

4th and 5th grade students who wish to participate are asked to create an agriculture or FFA themed drawing on 8 1/2" by 11'' printer paper to turn in to their teachers with their name and classroom teacher on the drawing. Winners will be selected for each class and presented a prize on Friday, February 24th. Please have all drawings or coloring pages from your students turned into your office by 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23rd. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Water/Pop Bottles Needed

Our next mini-science unit will be a plastic water/pop bottle flipping challenge. We are looking for plastic water and pop bottles of different sizes and shapes. We are looking for four different sizes of plastic bottles. I will only need six of each of the four sizes. The students will be challenged to find the right conditions to make the water or pop bottle flip and land on its bottom. Please send in any water or pop bottles you have at home with your student. I have 20 oz and 16.9 oz pop bottles covered! I think I drink too much pop!

Thanks!
